The “Renaissance Siena – Art for a City” exhibition will be hosted by the National Gallery, London from October 2007 to January 2008. It offers the first opportunity in the UK to see Sienese Renaissance works of art in the artistic, cultural and political context of the volatile last century of the Sienese Republic. To celebrate the London exhibition the Gran Hotel Continental in Siena has created a Renaissance Trail, featuring the city's frescoes, buildings and sculptures. This trail will take you to historical wonders such as the St. Anna in Camprena Monastery, the Sodomia Frescoes, the city of Pienza, the Monte Oliveto Maggiore Abbey and to the Santa Maria della Scala Museum in Siena.
This fanatstic opportunity to experience some of Italy’s finest examples of art, architecture and cultural phenomena is certainly one not to be missed.
